As a start-up founder, I had to wear many hats. I had to be the team’s marketer, salesperson, product manager, and bug tester simultaneously!
The amount of work I had to put in to make all of this resulted in me not spending enough time on higher-value tasks.
This is when I started using generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity to improve my productivity and save me some time (the other alternative was hiring a virtual assistant).
In this article, I’ll review 15 AI-for-work prompts that I still use to research topics, generate text, and build out campaigns.
I’ll also walk you through 5 generative AI tools you can use, which are cheaper than hiring a VA.

How Can You Use AI To Improve Your Work Productivity?
When I didn’t have a team to back me up for tasks, I was using AI for tasks, such as:
- Automating repetitive tasks, such as data entry and scheduling.
- Drafting emails, writing content, and producing presentations from scratch.
- Researching and summarizing topics.
As AI tools can now generate text and analyze data faster than humans, both start-ups and corporations have been using AI to increase productivity.
For example, I used to research topics and draft emails with ChatGPT and Perplexity, instead of hiring a copywriter.
That allowed our team to save money and also save us time from having to go back and forth with a writer, instead of prompting an AI engine.
As for corporations, I’ve seen some large enterprises use sales tools like Einstein to make predictions about deal value and spot opportunities in your pipeline.
💡 Later in this guide, I’ll explore some of the best AI tools to help you increase your productivity alongside your team.
AI For Work Prompts To Increase Yours & Your Team’s Productivity
Here are 15 of my favourite use cases of AI for work productivity alongside prompts and follow-up prompts that you can use:
#1: Researching topics
My favourite use case of AI for work has been researching topics.
You can ask generative tools like Perplexity to explain a complicated concept like you are an 11-year-old and argue why it’s important.
Prompt: Explain to me in 3 sentences with an example of what hreflang is in SEO and why it’s important.
My favourite part about this is that I can specify the amount of sentences in the explanation.
It could explain it to me with a 1-liner, or with an in-depth guide of 1,000+ words.
#2: Writing
As organizations that use AI for content creation see a 60% increase in productivity and a 30% improvement in content quality, I’ve seen more and more brands adopt AI tools for content creation.
From generating email marketing campaigns to producing SEO-optimized content, generative AI can help you with all writing tasks.
Prompt: Generate a 1,000-word article on the topic of ‘’ChatGPT for enterprise’’. It should be a comprehensive guide covering what is ChatGPT enterprise and its different use cases.
💡 Tools like Team-GPT (that’s us) let you further improve your content quality by creating custom instructions for your preferred AI model, such as ChatGPT.
For example, I used to add instructions for brand voice and writing style to make sure that I could scale my content production without having to heavily edit it.
Alternatively, tools like Jasper AI let you access pre-made writing prompts to write optimized SEO content
#3: Analyzing data
In our guide on how organizations are using AI for data analysis, I went over how AI can be used for analyzing data, such as identifying patterns in large data sets and generating unique insights.
Here’s an example prompt for analyzing and summarizing data sets.
Prompt: Analyze quarterly performance data of my SaaS product, focusing on customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), and monthly recurring revenue (MRR). Provide insights and recommendations to help me improve these metrics for the next quarter.
[Insert your data here – you can use Google Sheets as well].
#4: Summarizing
Generative AI tools can help you summarize content on the internet or summarize your content to send out to leads.
For example, tools like Einstein AI can help you summarize deals for your sales development representatives.
I used AI to help me with summarizing articles to help me learn topics faster.
Prompt: I want you to read this article and then summarize the top 3 findings in 3 sentences:
[Insert URL]
#5: Idea generation
AI tools can help you with idea generation in the workplace.
You might assume that the advice these platforms will give you would be generic, but that all depends on your prompt (i.e., what information you are feeding the tool).
Prompt: Generate 5 ideas of how I can increase the number of sign-ups for my SaaS platform which is an AI collaboration tool with generative AI capabilities.
#6: Market research
AI can assist product managers and marketers by helping them conduct market research in a category.
Market research prompts were important to me when I was a start-up founder because they helped me understand competitor strategies and spot threats early on.
Prompt: I want you to browse the web and perform market research in the AI marketing tool niche. I want you to give me the global market size and growth projections, key players and their market share, industry trends and technologies, SWOT analysis, customer needs and pain points, competitive advantages and USPs.
There’s a follow-up prompt that I like to do to evaluate the different markets.
Follow-up prompt: Perform the same market research, but this time only for the European market.
#7: Conceptualization of product ideas
A 2nd productivity prompt for start-up founders is the support of these AI tools with product conceptualization.
You can get to know more about a potential product’s possible target audience to go after, required features, unique selling points, and technical requirements.
Prompt: I’m planning to develop an AI marketing tool aimed at producing quality content and saving them time on tasks. The tool will cater to marketing managers who do not have the budget to hire copywriters. Help me conceptualize this project.
